Leukoderma, also called vitiligo, is a skin disease caused by a disorder of the immune system. There are white patches and pigmented skin on the affected area. The cutaneous condition acquired condition with localized loss of pigmentation of the skin that may occur after any number of inflammatory skin conditions, burns, intralesional steroid injections, postdermabrasion, etc. It may also appear due to certain external accidental causes, such as burn, cut or ulcer. It is largely a cosmetic problem, and is neither infectious nor contagious.
