Hypopituitarism, also called Simmond Disease, is the decreased secretion of one or more of the eight hormonesnormally produced by the pituitary gland at the base of the brain. The signs and symptoms of hypopituitarism vary, depending on which hormones are undersecreted and on the underlying cause of the abnormality. The most common problem is insufficiency of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and/or luteinizing hormone (LH) leading tosex hormone abnormalities.
