The level of MDA was induced significantly in treated cells. (***P<0.001)
H Huang et al developed a nanoplatform that can induce ferroptosis for cancer therapy. Malondialdehyde (MDA) CAL-27 cell was determined using MDA colorimetric assay kit (E-BC-K028-M).
It is recommended to take 2~3 samples with expected large difference to do pre-experiment before formal experiment and dilute the sample according to the result of the pre-experiment and the detection range (0.29-100 nmol/mL).
The recommended dilution factor for different samples is as follows (for reference only):
Sample type |
Dilution factor |
A549 cells |
1 |
HepG2 cells |
1 |
293T cells |
1 |
Note: The diluent is reagent 5.

Asked: Hi, can I know if reagent 5 is the extraction solution? Meaning that we don’t have to use other homogenization medium such as Triton-X? I tried few times and the standard is the only group that gives me colour.

Answered: Hi Nabila. Yes. We suggest to increase the concentration of cell homogenization. And try to read the OD value, the color might be quite light.

Asked: Since I have to determine the protein concentration using Bradford, can I use the protein extract obtained after reagent 5 addition for a Western Blot run? or are there some buffers in reagent 5 that can potentially interfer with the gel run?

Answered: Dear Martina Thanks for your message. For the inquired item reagent 5 in kit E-BC-K028-M Malondialdehyde (MDA) Colorimetric Assay Kit (Cell Samples) is only suitable for the kit E-BC-K028-M, while if you are searching for a Lysis Buffer for WB run, we advise you can try another item E-BC-R327 RIPA Lysis Buffer https://www.elabscience.com/search-keywords=e-bc-r327.html Hope to support you. Best regards
