Elabscience® Mitochondrial Membrane Potential Assay Kit (with JC-1)

The decrease of mitochondrial membrane potential is a marker event in the early stage of apoptosis. It occurs before the appearance of nuclear apoptotic features (chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation). JC-1 is an ideal fluorescent probe widely used to detect mitochondrial membrane potential ∆Ψm, which can detect cell, tissue, or purified mitochondrial membrane potential.

Results of Elabscience® JC-1 Kit

Normal cultured cells (left) showed a small number of apoptotic cells with only a small amount of green fluorescence. Camptothecin cultured (right panel) increased apoptotic cells and increased green fluorescence.
