Detection principle

Reduced glutathione (GSH) can react with dithionitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) to produce thio-nitrobenzoic acid and glutathione disulfide. Nitromercaptobenzoic acid is a yellow compound which has the maximum absorption peak at 420 nm. The GSH content can be calculated by measuring the OD value at 420 nm.

The level of GSH was significantly changed (*P<0.01) in D100, D200 and Co2+ groups.

D Wang et al investigates the acute toxicity and oxidative damage caused by cobalt-based framework. Reduced glutathione level of Photobacterium phosphoreum T3 was determined using GSH colorimetric assay kit (E-BC-K030-S).

Dilution of sample

It is recommended to take 2~3 samples with expected large difference to do pre-experiment before formal experiment and dilute the sample according to the result of pre-experiment and the detection range ( 0.26-122.8 mg GSH/L).
