background | Myogenin, a member of the myogenic regulatory factor family, is a transcription factor essential for skeletal muscle cell genesis. Staining was also found in myoblasts of human fetal limbs, whereas no reactivity was found in adult skeletal muscle. Myogenin staining has been observed in the vast majority of rhabdomyosarcomas and wilms' tumors, and no activity has been observed in Ewing sarcoma/peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors or neuroblastoma. It is now used to label striated muscle cells and tumors from which they originate. |
