| background | Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein normally expressed in the fetal liver and yolk sac endoderm. It can be used to label hepatocellular carcinoma and a variety of germ cell tumors, such as yolk sac tumors of the testis and ovary. In the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma, the sensitivity of AFP is low, but the specificity is high, so it can be used in combination with other antibodies in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. |
