background | MDM2 is a ubiquitin ligase located on the long arm of chromosome 12. Amplification of the long arm of chromosome 12 is prevalent in well-differentiated liposarcoma and dedifferentiated liposarcoma, resulting in the overexpression of the products of several oncogenes in this region, including MDM2 and CDK4. Therefore, combined detection of MDM2 and CDK4 can be used to distinguish well-differentiated liposarcoma from spindle cell/pleomorphic lipoma or classic lipoma, and also to distinguish dedifferentiated liposarcoma from other high-grade sarcomas. |
