| background | Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a basic single-chain polypeptide hormone secreted by chief cells of parathyroid glands. Its main function is to regulate the metabolism of calcium in the body, promote the increase of blood calcium level and the decrease of blood phosphorus level. At the same time, it also acts on the intestine and renal tubules to increase the absorption of calcium, thus maintaining the stability of blood calcium. It is commonly used in the diagnosis and research of parathyroid tumors. |
