Test Principle
This ELISA kit uses the Competitive-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with Universal EPI. During the reaction, Universal EPI in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of Universal EPI on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to Universal EPI. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed away, and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added to each micro plate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns from blue to yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The concentration of Universal EPI in tested samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
Background
Epinephrine, or epinephrine in Chinese, is an important hormone secreted by the adrenal medulla in the human body and is also a neurotransmitter. Its chemical formula is C9H13NO3 and its molecular weight is 183.2055.
The role of adrenaline in the human body is extensive and important. When the human body experiences certain stimuli (such as excitement, fear, tension, etc.), adrenaline will be secreted in large amounts, resulting in physiological reactions such as accelerated heart rate, increased blood pressure, and accelerated breathing. These responses help the body respond quickly to an emergency, providing more energy for physical activity and making it react more quickly.
Epinephrine also has many other physiological functions. For example, it can increase blood sugar levels, providing the body with more energy sources; It dilates blood vessels in the heart, liver and bones, providing more oxygen and nutrients to these vital organs. It constricts blood vessels in the skin and mucous membranes, reducing bleeding and fluid loss.
