QuicKey Pro Rat GAL1 (Galectin 1) ELISA Kit (E-OSEL-R0023)

This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human GAL1.Samples (or Standards) and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) linked antibody specific for Rat GAL1 are added to the micro ELISA plate wells. Rat GAL1 in samples (or standards) combines with the coated antibody and HRP linked detection antibody special to Rat GAL1. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate.Upon reaction with a chromogenic substrate, the HRP enzyme catalyzes the development of a colored product. The resulting signal intensity, measured spectrophotometrically at 450 ± 2 nm, is directly proportional to the concentration of Rat GAL1 in the sample.Quantitative determination is achieved by comparison with a standard curve generated from known concentrations.

Rat GAL1 also known as Galectin-1 or Lgals1 is a β-galactoside-binding lectin that regulates apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. This protein with a molecular mass of approximately 14 kDa exists as a noncovalent homodimer. It is widely expressed in various tissues and plays a role in modulating immune responses, cell adhesion, and migration. Galectin-1 inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and thereby prevents the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. It is a potent inducer of T-cell apoptosis and has been implicated in cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune disorders.
