QuicKey Pro Human IgM (Immunoglobulin M) ELISA Kit (E-OSEL-H0085)

This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human IgM.Samples (or Standards) and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) linked antibody specific for Human IgM are added to the micro ELISA plate wells. Human IgM in samples (or standards) combines with the coated antibody and HRP linked detection antibody special to Human IgM. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate.Upon reaction with a chromogenic substrate, the HRP enzyme catalyzes the development of a colored product. The resulting signal intensity, measured spectrophotometrically at 450 ± 2 nm, is directly proportional to the concentration of Human IgM in the sample.Quantitative determination is achieved by comparison with a standard curve generated from known concentrations.

Human IgM also known as immunoglobulin heavy constant mu or IGHM is the constant region of the immunoglobulin heavy chain. This protein, with a monomeric molecular mass of approximately 49 kDa, is produced as a pentamer or hexamer in serum. It is expressed by B lymphocytes and serves as a membrane-bound receptor or secreted antibody. IgM mediates effector functions via Fc receptors and activates the classical complement pathway by recruiting C1q. It plays an important role in primary defense against pathogens, early recognition of bacteria and viruses, and elimination of precancerous and cancerous lesions.
