Background
sCD14 is an important inflammatory marker that plays a key role in the body's immune-inflammatory response. It is a soluble molecule generated by the hydrolysis of CD14 molecules on the surface of macrophages. CD14 mainly consists of two forms: a glycoprotein expressed on the cell membrane surface (mCD14) and soluble CD14 (sCD14) formed after secretion or shedding into the bloodstream. The main function of sCD14 is to act as a receptor for endotoxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS). When mononuclear macrophages receive inflammatory signal stimulation from LPS, sCD14 promotes the secretion and expression of various cytokines through related signal transduction pathways.
