High Sensitivity Mouse IL-2 (Interleukin 2) ELISA Kit (E-HSEL-M0011)

This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Mouse IL-2. Standards or samples are added to the micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Mouse IL-2 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Mouse IL-2, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 5 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Mouse IL-2. You can calculate the concentration of Mouse IL-2 in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

Interleukin 2 (IL-2), also known as T cell growth factor (TCGF),produced by activated CD4-positive helper T-cells and to a lesser extend activated CD8-positive T-cells and natural killer (NK) cells that plays pivotal roles in the immune response and tolerance.Plays a pivotal role in regulating the adaptive immune system by controlling the survival and proliferation of regulatory T-cells, which are required for the maintenance of immune tolerance.In vivo,IL-2 is critical for the development, maintenance and function of regulatory T cells (Treg) which provide protection against autoimmune disease. On the other hand, IL-2 have shown an important role for IL-2 in T cell activation and expansion.It can also promote autoimmune inflammation in target organs through its roles in regulating the expression of T cell trafficking genes and production of Th2 cytokines. Within the CD8+ T cell subset, IL-2 is essential for optimal primary responses and differentiation into terminal effector cells. IL-2 also promotes the development of activated CD8+ T cells into memory cells.
