Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is the most clearly studied of all angiogenic factors. VEGF signaling pathway plays an irreplaceable role in the whole process of angiogenesis. Numerous studies have found that VEGF promotes the proliferation, migration, and chemotaxis of vascular endothelial cells in various tissues and organs such as bone, lung, kidney, brain, and tumor. In addition, the stimulation of inflammation and tumor growth is the main factor of VEGF release under pathological conditions.
