Glasgow's MEM (GMEM) was originally developed by Ian McPherson and Michael Stoker based on MEM basal medium to study the ability of genetic factors to affect cells. Glasgow's MEM can also be used for the culture of renal cell lines such as BHK-21. The concentration of amino acids and vitamins in Glasgow's MEM medium was twice that of BME (Basal Medium Eagle) medium. Use of this product requires 10 % tryptone phosphate broth without serum.
